In this webinar we focused on the cases of cocoa and coffee. We explored some fundamental questions relating to the production, processing and consumption of tropical commodities. How can we make sure that these popular products do not cause negative effects in the countries that produce them? How can we make sure farmers that produce the raw materials for these products do not live below poverty levels? And finally: who should take the responsibility in shaping interventions that work: companies, traders, governments or consumers? A food systems perspective was applied to discuss these questions.
In this webinar, we invited three experts for interviews and a panel discussion.
- Yuca Waarts, senior researcher sustainable value chains, Wageningen UR
- Raymond Tumuhaire (and Maarten Onneweer), Aidenvironment Green Future Farming Project
- Nico Janssen, programme manager Agricultural Livelihoods at IKEA Foundation
